Poetics of landscape, Airy Kofu, Kofu City, August 2019

The poetics of landscape was a participatory, site specific work exploring the human relation to landscape within and outwit the boundaries of a city. During my month long stay with Kofu Artist Residency; the work involved a series of silent, sensory walks from Kofu City to the forest of Mt. Atago. Participants journeyed through sensory and visual thresholds, marking shifts in terrain and space. Participants were guided through the city, into the forest, arriving within a temporal, paper installation where they were invited to respond to senses through writing. Participants were given time to pause, listen deeply. Walks were guided over the course of two days; paper works filled with words over the course of the weekend and were later installed by participants inside the exhibition space, open to the public.

An aerial sculpture work was created indoors, echoing the shape and space of the walk.

“we are part of nature,we are in the process of coming back to the soil.’’
